Young sunflowers are heliotropic — they track the sun across the sky from east to west each day, resetting overnight. Once mature, they stop moving and face east permanently. This is deliberate: the east-facing warmth attracts more pollinators in the morning, when bees are most active. The sunflower has figured out something rather clever about the world.
They symbolise loyalty — because they always face the same direction. They symbolise adoration — because they literally turn toward what they love. They symbolise long life and the straightforward, uncomplicated generosity of wanting someone to feel warm when they look at what you've given them.
A sunflower in a room does something specific and reliable: it makes people smile. Not in a complicated way. Just directly, immediately, and without any effort at all. Sometimes that is exactly what is required.
