When Are Red Peonies in Season?

European red peonies have a shorter and more concentrated season than pink or white — peak availability is mid-May through to the end of June. May and early June are the finest weeks. Red Charm in particular has a relatively brief season and sells out quickly when at its best, as demand consistently exceeds supply during peak weeks. Outside the European season, from July through to April, availability of specific red varieties is more limited than other colours. We source from southern hemisphere supply chains where possible, but we will always be honest with you about what is genuinely available at Grade A1 quality. How to Care for Your Red Peonies

Your red peonies arrive in tight bud — this is deliberate and correct, meaning your stems are at their absolute freshest. They will open beautifully over 2 to 5 days at room temperature.

1. Remove all packaging and cut stems at a sharp 45-degree angle with a clean, sharp knife
2. Place immediately into a clean vase of fresh lukewarm water with the flower food sachet provided
3. Remove all leaves below the waterline to prevent bacterial growth
4. Position away from direct sunlight, radiators, draughts and fruit bowls
5. Change the water completely every two days and re-cut the stems each time
6. To slow the opening — move to a cool room or refrigerate overnight
7. To speed the opening — place in a warm, bright spot away from direct sun
